If you're a fabric junkie, Britex is the equivalent of letting a heroin junkie loose, without supervision, in the pharmacy of a hospital specializing in emergency care. This strap is the result of my first visit, after I moved to California in 2000. The third floor is trims and buttons, and the photo doesn't come close to doing it justice.
This understated strap in shades of grey, cocoa and taupe is made out of absurdly expensive antique French trim. I made it during a trip to my grandmother's funeral - I didn't have the nerve to use my sewing machine, so I stitched it entirely by hand, reinforcing the ribbon and gimp with a piece of 2" wide nylon belt webbing (my usual technique). Heck, who needs groceries when there's embellishment to do?
